Frequently asked questions
Common questions about Landblock.
Does Landblock replace existing land registries?
No. Government registries remain the authoritative sources of truth for land rights. Landblock adds the interoperability layer — the infrastructure that lets registries verify each other's records without replacing or displacing them.
How does Landblock interact with governments?
Landblock works with government land registries as partners. A registry that joins does so voluntarily and retains full control over its data, processes, and legal decisions. Integration typically starts with a Mirror Mode pilot — no change to internal systems or legal framework required.
Is land data stored on the blockchain?
No. Only cryptographic hashes of records are stored on-chain. The actual land records stay off-chain, under registry control, encrypted and access-controlled according to the registry's own disclosure policy.
Who controls the data?
The registry that published it. Landblock does not have access to the underlying land records. A registry can revoke, update, or restrict access at any time.
What happens in a land dispute?
Landblock does not resolve disputes. Courts and governments decide land truth. Landblock provides a cryptographically verifiable evidence record — a tamper-proof audit trail that courts and arbitrators can use as part of their process.
Which countries are supported?
Landblock is jurisdiction-agnostic. No country-specific assumptions are baked into the contracts. The pilot market is Peru (SUNARP and COFOPRI). Other jurisdictions are being assessed in parallel.
Is this legal?
Landblock operates as an infrastructure layer, not a legal authority. Publishing a cryptographic proof does not create, transfer, or extinguish any legal right. Legal rights are governed by the laws of each jurisdiction.
What is the LDBK token for?
LDBK is the utility token used to pay for protocol operations — submitting proofs, querying records, and using federation services. It is not a governance token and does not represent any ownership of land or land rights. See the Tokenomics page for details.
